Reproductive Endocrinology Team of WHZJU Attends ASPIRE 2024
The 13th Congress of the Asia Pacific Initiative on Reproduction (ASPIRE 2024) was held from 23 May to 26 May 2024 in Manila, Philippines.
Dr. Yang Song gave an oral presentation titled " Levothyroxine Improves the Outcomes of In Vitro Fertilization-Embryo Transfer (IVF-ET) in Women with Adenomyosis and Thyroid Autoimmunity (TAI) “. The infertility women with adenomyosis usually need to undergo for IVF-ET. TAI is an autoimmune disease with high prevalence among reproductive aged women. Our study suggested adenomyosis and TAI showed additive adverse effect on IVF outcomes. Levothyroxine could improves pregnancy rate in women with adenomyosis combine of TAI though immunoregulating follicular microenvironment.
Dr. Shuangying Liu gave an oral presentation on "In vitro fertilization does not impact the susceptibility to experimental asthma in mice offspring". Corresponding author is Prof. Zhu Yimin. In this study, a mouse model was constructed to investigate the impact of in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer (IVF-ET) on the susceptibility of offspring to asthma, while excluding the influence of parental infertility. The results showed that there was no significant difference in asthma susceptibility between in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer and naturally conceived mouse offspring, and there was no sex difference, which provides supporting evidence for the safety of assisted reproductive technology offspring.
Dr. Ruimin Zhao gave an oral presentation on "Overweight and obesity determined by body mass index criteria for Asian populations adversely affect assisted reproductive outcomes among Chinese women with polycystic ovary syndrome", which was written by Yinghui Ye. The study included PCOS women who underwent ART in hospital, and focused on the effect of BMI classification criteria on clinical pregnancy outcomes among PCOS women according to the Asian population. The results showed that BMI below 23 kg/m2 significantly improved the conception and live birth rates of PCOS women compared with those with BMI higher than 23 kg/m2, which suggests that the race-specific BMI classification criteria is important for improving the outcome of polycystic ovary syndrome. This study suggests that race-specific BMI classification criteria have a significant impact on improving in vitro fertilization outcomes in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).

Asia Pacific Initiative on Reproduction (ASPIRE) is an academic organization dedicated to promoting the development and advancement of reproductive medicine in the Asia-Pacific region, and the ASPIRE Annual Meeting has become an important platform for Asia-Pacific countries to understand and share advances in fertility and reproductive medicine. This was the first face-to-face offline meeting of ASPIRE in three years.
