As China Regional Clinical Center for Obstetrics and Gynecology, WHZJU has been one of the leaders in scientific research of maternal medicine, reproductive medicine, gynecological oncology, general gynecology and undiagnosed diseases.
WHZJU is home to two national key clinical specialties (Obstetrics and Gynecology), and two provincial key laboratories: Key Laboratory of Reproductive Genetics (Zhejiang University), Ministry of Education, and Key Laboratory for Women's Reproductive Health Research of Zhejiang Province. Besides, WHZJU is national FDA-certified clinical drug trial institute. In 2019, we have 171 SCI papers, including 25 papers were published in journals with high impact factors. The total research funds of 2017-2019 reached to 103 million RMB, with the majority of funding supported by National Key Projects, National Key Technology, National Key Research and Discovery Project Program and other government’s funding.
Guided by the national and regional development strategic needs, we pay great attention to the launch of multi-center clinical researches in the prevention and treatment of critical diseases, formulation of clinical guidelines and standards of diagnosis and treatment, development and promotion of new diagnosis and treatment technologies, pioneering the translation of scientific research achievement to improve patient care. So far, we have four programs that won the Second Prize of the State Scientific and Technological Progress Award, and nine programs that won National Women and Children’s Health Science and Technology Award.
WHZJU is committed to building the international and inspiring research teams that take the lead in discipline development in domestic and overseas. We have established international joint research centers with world-class universities, including Zhejiang University—The Chinese University of Hong Kong Joint Research Center for Human Reproduction and Related Diseases, Zhejiang University—University of British Columbia Collaborative Research Center in Reproductive Medicine, Women’s Reproductive Health Laboratory of Zhejiang Province—School of Population, University of Western Australia in Gynecological Cancer of Molecular Epidemiology. We focus on both introducing high-caliber talents with great international academic impact and nurturing a new generation of scientists with outstanding innovation ability. We are devoted to multi-disciplines connection and cooperation, ensuring an innovative, collaborative and supportive environment for our scientists and clinicians to perform groundbreaking research and advance medical care.
With its current scale, WHZJU has been constructing a Building of Scientific Research and Education at Qianjiang Campus for basic and clinical scientific research, covering a construction area of 22,500 square meters. We will continue to meet the national and regional requirements and advance comprehensive progress of “human reproductive development”, “birth defect prevention and control” and “prevention and treatment of major gynecological diseases”, making WHZJU to be one of the important clinical and scientific research centers of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the world.
