Gynecology Unit 2 has a faculty of more than thirty, including 15 doctors and 17 nurses. We have 51 beds and the admitted patients are about 3000 per year from all over the country. Our clinical and research team has leading superiority in many aspects in general gynecology, including minimal invasive surgery, long-term treatment and follow-up for patients with endometriosis and adenomyosis, standard and comprehensive therapy for patients with chronic pelvic pain, etc. Gynecology Unit 2 has earned its reputation as the only and the largest ward specialized in endometriosis in China by:

·Participating in formulating the Chinese guidelines of many benign gynecological diseases, such as endometriosis/adenomyosis, uterine leiomyoma, etc.

·Exploring knowledge of women’s health through basic and clinical research, educating patients and training young clinicians and scientists.

·Focusing on researches in endometriosis and adenomyosis, especially the pain mechanism. And we are specialized on conservative surgery for adenomyosis, which can both reserve fertility function and release pain symptom.

·General Gynecology

We provide almost all kinds of treatments for General Gynecology - including minimal invasive surgeries (laparoscopy and hysteroscopy) for many benign gynecologic diseases, such as endometriosis, adenomyosis, leiomyoma, ovarian cysts, ectopic pregnancy, uterine adhesion, uterine malformation, polyps, etc. We take the lead in the nation in performing laparoscopic surgeries for deep infiltrating endometriosis, including bowl/bladder/ureter endometriosis. And we have first developed “Double-Flap” method of laparoscopic adenomyomectomy for diffuse uterine adenomyosis, which has excellent effect on relieving clinical symptoms and also preserving/improving fertility. Furthermore, we are skillful at laparoscopic operations for early gynecologic carcinomas as well.

Specialty:

Endometriosis: In regard to endometriosis, our team takes the leading position among the nation in its early diagnosis, precise and standard surgical/medical treatment and long-term follow-up work. We are specialized in laparoscopic surgeries for deep infiltrating endometriosis, including bowl/bladder/ureter endometriosis, and recurrent endometriosis. We have a multidisciplinary team of experts to collaborate during the operation. The Director-Professor Zhang, participates in the formulation of the “Chinese Guideline of Endometriosis”, indicating the standard protocol for its treatments.

Adenomyosis:We have first developed “Double-Flap” method of laparoscopic adenomyomectomyfor diffuse uterine adenomyosis, which has excellent effect on relieving clinical symptoms and also preserving/improving fertility.

Chronic Pelvic Pain: Our faculty have rich clinical experience in chronic pelvic painand its etiological treatment. We analyze every patient individually and find precise cause of the pain for them, give them pertinent treatments. We use laparoscopic surgeries to differentiate gynecologic pain causes, and we are qualified in block anesthesia to treat the pain caused by myofascial syndrome.

IV Stage Endoscopic Surgeries:IV stage endoscopic surgeries are performed extensively in our ward, including laparoscopic radical hysterectomy and para-aortic/pelvic lymphatic dissection for gynecologic carcinoma, hysteroscopic resection of submucous myoma, hysteroscopic incision of severe uterine adhesion, radiofrequency ablation of endometrium (Novasure), etc.
