Department Introduction

With the aim of building an innovative, research-based and vigorous hospital which enjoys international reputations, our nursing team is dedicated to the combination of clinical care and scientific research, making full use of the characteristics and expertise of obstetrics and gynecology nursing, and improving the development of clinical nursing specialists. The Nursing Department is the chair unit of the first midwifery branch of the Chinese Maternal and Child Health Association, the professional nursing committee of Obstetric, Gynecologic and Assistant reproductive technology (ART) of Zhejiang Nurse Association, and the deputy chair unit of the Professional Committee of Gynecology of Chinese Nursing Association. The hospital also owns one national level standardized training base for midwives which is one of the earliest in China, and four provincial-level training bases for clinical nursing specialists including maternal-infant nursing, gynecological nursing, ART nursing and neonatal nursing. We have established nursing standard in perinatal care, assisted reproduction technology, prevention of women diseases, and rehabilitation of female pelvic floor, leading and promoting the development of obstetrics and gynecology nursing of the whole province even the country.

Perinatal Nursing is a key medical discipline (innovative discipline team) in Zhejiang Province. Based on academic frontiers, we are committed to promoting spontaneous labor and midwifery technology, reducing the rate of cesarean section, and ensuring women and children health. We take an initiative in the nursing services such as position-free delivery, doula accompany delivery, family integrated delivery, early essential newborn care, early neonatal education and intelligence developmental care for premature, postnatal rehabilitation of pelvic floor and ART follow-up service for offspring, establishing a comprehensive, multi-dimensional, multi-level perinatal nursing system.

Our nursing expert team consists of 3 doctoral supervisors and 4 master supervisors, 10 international and national breastfeeding consultants, 10 national second-class psychological consultants, 3 national second-class nutritionists, and 46 clinical specialized nurses. As the one of the earliest demonstration pregnancy school in China, we initiated the pattern of nurse-led promotion of maternal and newborn health. On pursuing professional, standardized, humanistic service from specialized nurse, we took the lead in setting up midwifery consultation clinic, breastfeeding consultation clinic, obstetric diabetes one-day clinic, reproductive health consultation clinic, HPV vaccination consultation clinic, breast wound care and PICC care clinic, etc. Dozens of nurse experts provide online consultation which meets the diverse needs of pregnant and non-pregnant women. In order to provide high-quality nursing recourses to primary hospitals, our nursing experts have undertaken gynecological and obstetrics nursing guidance for nearly 10 hospitals in Zhejiang Province, making great contributions to the balanced development of the specialized nursing care.
