Introduction of Gynecology Unit 3 

1.About Us

Department Scale

Founded in January 2015, Gynecology Unit 3 consists of the unit 3 ward and the Gynecologic Endocrinology outpatient clinic..Currently, the department has a strong medical team consisting of17 doctors (including 5 senior doctors and 10 intermediate-level doctors) and 14 nurses. Of the doctors,10have a Master’sdegree, 7 have a doctor’sdegrees and 1is a master tutor and doctoral supervisor. In addition, the departmentcontainsa large number of interns, postgraduate students and trainee doctors.With altogether 57 beds, the ward widely admits and manages common gynecologic diseases. In addition, a Gynecologic Endocrinology outpatient clinicwas set up in 2010, which includes 10 specialists.

Work Responsibility

The department has been committed to delivering high-quality medical care, and innovative researchof gynecological endocrine related diseases, especially the standardized diagnosis and treatment of abnormal uterine bleeding in perimenopausal patients and adolescents. Furthermore, surgeries for common gynecological diseases are routinely performed. It has its own team of academic researchers and serves as the training center to train the standardized residents and trainee doctors.

National/Provincial Recognition & Rank

The department has led the establishment of “millions of women reproductive health technology achievement transformation project”, and has established athree-level network of Zhejiang climacteric health care.

Specialty:

  • Diagnosis and treatmentgynecological endocrine-related diseases.
  • Accumulated experience in perimenopausal and menopausal hormone replacement therapy, hormone replacement in cancer survivors and abnormal uterine bleeding. Established a systematic process of diagnosis, treatmentand standardized management, which has a leading position in the country.
  • Established the Women's Healthcare Public Welfare Fund supported by the Zhejiang University Education Foundation to care for women's health in 2016.
  • Cooperation with Li Ka Shing Foundation (LKSF) to care for women’s health in Zhejiang Province and national level.


2.Treatment & Service

With a faithof committing ourselvesto delivering patient-centered service, weundertake the mission of “caring for life”, hoping to be a distinctive medical team with strong professional skills and academic advances. Gynecology Unit 3 consists of the unit 3 ward and the Gynecologic Endocrinology outpatient clinic

  1. The unit ward

Traditional operations and laparoscopic operations are carried out in the unit. Rich experience hasbeen accumulated through diagnosis and treatment of general gynecological and gynecological endocrine diseases. The annual admission of the ward is nearly 3,000 patients with the number of operations of more than 2,000.

  • The Gynecologic Endocrinology OutpatientClinic

The annual outpatient number is about 30 thousand and the number of training physicians is more than 30 each year. We use computer software to scientifically manage the menopausal patients in Zhejiang province and we have set-up a database of perimenopausal and menopausal outpatients forlong-term reviewing.


3. The Milestone of Expertise

Gynecologic Endocrinology OutpatientClinichas been the site of important advances inwomen’s health. Beginning with the clinic in 2010, milestones include:

  • Established a Gynecological Endocrinology clinic in our hospital for the first time.
  • Developedspecial computer software to build a database for patients who received HRT, which was patented in 2013.
  • Established the Climacteric Health Care Group of the Women's Health Care Association of the Zhejiang Preventive Medicine Society in July 2014.
  • Established the Quality Control Center of Zhejiang Perimenopausal Health in September 2015 to guild and supervise the perimenopausal health care in Zhejiang province.
  • Since the establishment of the Training Course of Popular Science Lecturers in December 2016, so far70 lecturers have been recruited nationwide for offering professionalism in the care and treatment of women's health care.
  • In 2017, contributed to the establishment ofthe Menopausal Disease Prevention and Control of Zhejiang province committee and the Menopause Health of Maternal and Child Health Research Committee.


4.Education & Training

Besides the duty to cultivate undergraduate and postgraduate students, part of our main workis to deliverstandardized training to residents to ensure theymaster basic knowledge by learning the Resident Basic Theory and practice clinical skills and cultivate their ability to perform scientific research. Currently, there areabout 50 residents trained at our department each year.

We cooperate with LKSF to improve primary medical and public health service by funding primary physician’s advanced education. An average of 20trainee doctors can be trained at our uniteach year. Also, we established the Women's Healthcare Public Welfare Fund of Zhejiang University Education Foundation, which fundsthe Training Course of Popular Science lecturers, andthe recruitmenthigh-quality physicians.

Additionally, we have participated in preparation and publication of professional books and textbooks to guild basic level physician’s work, and published 3 books of popular science for the public to spread the scientific knowledge overthe past 5 years.

5.Research

Our primary research focuses ongynecological endocrine related diseases, including the diagnosis and management of abnormal uterine bleeding, the pathogenesis of POI,the diagnosis and treatment standard of menopause hormone therapy, and senile vaginitis.

In the past 5 years, we have actively applied for research projects of the provincial and national level, andundertook 7 projectsof the National Natural science Foundation of China, 4projects of the Zhejiang Provincial Natural Science Foundation, 3 projects funded bythe Science and Technology Department of Zhejiang Province, and 5 projects funded by theProvincial Defense Planning Commission. Also, we published dozens of Chinese and English articlesin the past 5 years, including more than 20 articles published in SCI journals, of which 2 articles have an impact factor more than 5.

The overall goal is to provide comprehensive insight into key developments in the area of science research and the innovative and multi-disciplinary approaches being applied to handlenovel challenges.

Awards:

  • Awarded the first prize in the project “Establishment and Promotion of Menopausal Multidimensional Health Care System” of the 2nd National Maternal and Child Health Science and Technology Achievement Award in 2007

Social services:

  • Expanding knowledge and spreading the spirits of women’s health through the “Flower Style” Health Center in Women’s Hospital School of Zhejiang University in March 2016.
  • Organized a lecturer group to carry out more than 200 science popularization lectures in various forms per yearwithan audience group of more than 100 thousand women.
  • Gave volunteer medical consultation in remote areas funded by the Women's Healthcare Public Welfare Fund of Zhejiang University Education Foundation.

Academic Activities:

  • Contributed to establish groups for climacteric health care and regularly organized the National Menopause Forum to promote communication between academic and professional physicians every year.
  • Established 13 practice bases of rural medical care funded by the Women’s Healthcare Public Welfare Fund of Zhejiang University Education Foundation.
  • Participation and communication of national and international academic and professional conferences by the way ofconference speeches or poster exchanges.
