Introduction of Gynecologic Oncology  Department

Founded in 1972, the Department of Gynecologic Oncology at WHZJU serves as the center of clinic, teaching and research of gynecologic oncology in Zhejiang province, with a faculty of more than sixty. We have earned the reputation as an national leader in the diagnosis and treatment in gynecologic tumors. A stratification and individual comprehensive therapy system has been developed this year by combined operation, chemotherapy, with biological and endocrine therapy. We have established unique therapies to retain reproductive function of patients suffering from malignancies such as cervical cancer and endometrial cancer. We also achieved great success in improving the survival rate and quality of life for patients with advanced ovarian cancer and other gynecological malignancies. We are the drafting unit of the national guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of gestational trophoblast disease. The cure rate of gestational trophoblast tumor and the rate of pregnancy after treatment have reached the international advanced level. Over the past several years, we have treated more than 800 gynecologic cancer patients involved/including 500 cases of cervical cancer, 130 cases of endometrial carcinoma, 100 cases of ovarian malignant tumors and 100 cases of gestational trophoblast disease as well as more than 1500 cases of CIN each year.
